UCT members are giving back through community service!

UCT members are special people. Every day, across the U.S. and Canada they’re making a difference in their communities and having a positive impact on those who live there. UCT members are also humble people – they’re too busy putting into action our commitment to being the place where community and compassion unite to shine a light on themselves and their efforts. So, I’m going to do it for them!

We’ve just compiled our stats for the past year and here is some of what we found: In the spirit of giving back, our members spent more than 100,000 hours supporting causes and charities that best meet the needs of their communities. They held around 800 special events and donated nearly $1 million to these causes and charities. UCT members decide on a local basis who and what to support and some of their favorite programs include those for veterans, seniors, the homeless and hungry, and those working to help the environment. Here’s a big shout out to our members in Florida, who put in 22,359 hours volunteering for such programs. Amazing job – thank you!

Helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities has been UCT’s top project for almost 60 years. Through their support of programs like Special Olympics, The ARC, and the American Special Hockey Association, as well as schools, workshops and camps, our members showed their dedication to it. Helping younger generations is another key focus for UCT members, and they proved it by sponsoring and supporting local youth sports teams, scout troops, summer camps, student scholarships, Toys for Tots, and organizations like Big Brother-Big Sister and the Boys and Girls Club.

Other causes and charities UCT members stepped up to help out this year included the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American and Canadian Cancer Societies, Relay for Life, the Terry Fox Run, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Red Cross, the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI), The Salvation Army, and Ronald McDonald House. Kudos to our members in the province of Alberta for supporting such causes with donations totaling $338,032. You’re the best!

Not to be outdone, UCT’s home office employees – who are also all UCT members – contributed nearly $15,000 to local and national causes, and our home office kicked in another $30,000 on top of that!

We’re proud of the many efforts of UCT members to make their communities better places to live and for supporting charities that help so many individuals in need. And we have no doubt they intend to give back even more next year. Just watch!
