JOIN HANDS DAY Excellence Awards Excellence Awards Ten awards are selected from thousands of volunteer projects that develop youth and adult partnerships on JOIN HANDS DAY. Each winning project receives a $1,000 check and an engraved glass award. Coordinating groups choose how the funds are used. Some organizations find it appropriate to donate the money to the beneficiary of the project or another benevolent cause. Others choose to save it as seed money for next year's event. The Criteria In selecting Excellence Award recipients, the most important consideration is the quality of youth and adult partnerships in planning and executing the event. Other criteria include the quality of the project to the neighborhood or to persons in need and the effectiveness of the mobilization group. The Deadline To be considered for the 2008 JOIN HANDS DAY Excellence Awards, project organizers must pre-register JOIN HANDS DAY projects on the JOIN HANDS DAY Web site at www.joinhandsday.org. Pre-event online project registration opens February 2008. Project organizers must also post-event register their projects by no later than Tuesday, June 6.
