UCT presents $10,000 endowment to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute
UCT's CEO Joe Hoffman, left, presents a $10,000 endowment fund donation on behalf of the organization to Theodoros Teknos, M.D., a professor at The Ohio State University Medical School and director of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (The James). Also pictured is Chris Delisio, Director of Development for The James. UCT established an endowment fund at The James in 1990 with a $25,000 contribution. The fund has since grown to $120,000 and supports The James' sophisticated and diverse cancer research programs. UCT's Board of Governors approved the additional $10,000 donation at the December 2009 Board meeting. In pursuit of new ways to combat cancer, physicians and scientists at The James continuously blaze trails on the leading edge of basic, clinical/translational and prevention research. Research programs ensure that patients receive the best possible care and treatment, that medical professionals benefit from the educational aspects of research programs, that clinical investigators have the opportunity to advance medical knowledge, and that the community benefits from participation in state-of-the-art cancer research. The James is a world-class healthcare enterprise focused on improving the lives of cancer patients. As such, it is dedicated to translating research into high-quality patient care and educational programs for residents of central Ohio and beyond. The James is one of only 40 institutions in the United States designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a "comprehensive" cancer center. |
