The UCT Charities Trust Fund provides scholarship
assistance to individuals who teach or desire to teach to teach people with intellectual disabilities.
Founded in 1997, the UCT Charities Trust Fund builds
upon UCT’s history of giving by functioning as a full-fledged non-profit
organization. The fund is approved as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization
by the Ohio Bureau of Taxation and the
Internal Revenue Service as an entity affiliated with The Order of
United Commercial Travelers of America.
Since its inception, the UCT Charities Trust Fund
has received generous support from UCT members, councils and associations
through contributions, pledges
and life insurance policies. No gift is too small to make a difference.
You can help the fund to grow through a variety of giving options.
Contributions may be made by individuals or
groups and will be recognized in an appropriate manner. Donations to
the UCT Charities Trust Fund are cumulative, allowing you to move
up in giving levels, and may be tax deductible,
depending on your tax status.
One of the more popular options for donating to the UCT Charities
Trust Fund is by purchasing a life insurance policy that names the fund as beneficiary upon
the death of the policyholder. This option holds the funds in an irrevocable trust and,
depending upon tax status, can allow the policyholder to deduct the cost of the policy’s
premiums.

In addition, local councils and their members are encouraged to
consider making a contribution to the fund in memory of each deceased council member, either
when the member passes away or once a year. What better way to remember those who devoted
themselves to UCT than to ensure that their dedication lives on in a way that benefits others?
Local councils are urged to donate $25 per death, and individual members are encouraged to donate
$10 per death to the fund. Each contribution that includes the name and address of the deceased
member’s closest family member will be acknowledged to the individual in
the form of a personalized card.
A contribution in honor of a special person or an event
such as a birthday or anniversary is also a favorite giving option for many councils
and individuals. The honored person will
receive a card notifying him or her of the thoughtfulness and generosity
of the donation.
