Columbus members lend a hand to help the homeless

COLUMBUS, Ohio, December 2011 - Thirty-six members of Columbus, Ohio Council 1 and M.J. Terapak Council 144 in Columbus teamed up recently with about 15 other community volunteers to help area homeless families.

Members checked in guests, sold raffle tickets and supervised silent auction tables for the Home for the Holidays event, which raised over $100,000 for the Homeless Families Foundation. This was the councils' second year volunteering for the event.

The Homeless Families Foundation provides shelter and support services for homeless families and an extensive tutoring and enrichment program for homeless and at-risk school age children.
