Operation Purple campaign extended to Feb. 15!
COLUMBUS, Ohio, January 2012 - If you or your council want to contribute to UCT's fundraising campaign for the National Military Family Association's (NMFA) Operation Purple program to send military kids to camp in summer 2012, there's still time! The deadline for donations has been extended to Feb. 15 to allow for greater participation.
Last year, members and councils met our challenge to support Operation Purple through generous contributions totaling nearly $16,000. This year we're asking you to dig deep into your pockets once again to help us raise $20,000. To date nearly $2,000 has been contributed - only $18,000 more to go!
Each summer the NMFA offers summer camp opportunities to children of U.S. military members free of charge through its Operation Purple program. Last year 36 camps served 3,600 kids ages 8-16. The average cost to send one child to camp is approximately $500.
The NMFA is the leading non-profit committed to strengthening and protecting officer and enlisted families in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and NOAA.
You and your council can make a difference in the lives of young people by supporting Operation Purple. Last year the program received 10,000 applications but only had the funding to send 3,600 kids to summer camp. Think how we can increase that number in 2012 if each local council contributes at least $500 to our campaign for the program!
Help us help military kids by supporting Operation Purple. Send your donation, payable to UCT, by no later than Feb. 15, 2012 to:
