Annual convention service project will help Florida's homeless
COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 2011 - Last year's UCT convention community service project was such a success that we're holding our second annual project at this year's convention. We're collecting toiletries for the Sulzbacher Center in Jacksonville, Northeast Florida's only provider of comprehensive services for homeless adults and children.
You can help the Sulzbacher Center help those in need by participating in the toiletry drive. Travel sized items are preferred and needed items include soap, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, disposable razors, shampoo and conditioner, lip balm, bug spray, sunscreen and flip flops.
Audrey McKibbin Moran, president and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center, is delighted UCT has chosen the center for our project. "We distribute at least 350 toiletry kits to shelter residents each day," she said. "We also provide move-out kits to those leaving our shelter, and we give out nearly 100 kits to homeless people on the streets every day. UCT's toiletry drive will have an enormous impact in helping us continue to provide basic necessities to people who need them the most."
Our goal for this year's Supreme Session community service project is to collect 10,000 toiletry items, a goal we would love to see doubled! For more information about the project contact Jen Chillinsky at (800) 848-0123, ext. 100, or at jchillinsky@uct.org.
