Critical illness is certainly something we would
all like to avoid. But, however healthy we all strive to be, life is
unpredictable. That’s why UCT offers the Critical Illness Insurance
Plan, available in Canada, which pays lump sum benefits for the initial occurrence of a
specified critical illness such as cancer, stroke and certain heart
problems. Critical Illness benefits The Critical Illness Insurance Plan pays lump sum benefits as specified per covered insured for the initial occurrence of a specified critical illness. Each benefit is payable only once and is subject to a lifetime maximum of $10,000, which reduces to $5,000 at age 65. There is no survival requirement to receive benefits. Plan benefits are subject to a 30-day waiting period and, for individual policies, the plan terminates when the lifetime maximum benefit has been paid. For family policies, coverage terminates when 100 percent of the lifetime maximum for a covered person has been paid, however, the policy continues for the remaining covered persons.
