Hospital coverage for illness or accidents
In today’s world of skyrocketing health care costs, health insurance is becoming more and more expensive. The new Hospital Indemnity Plan is designed to help to offset health care costs by assisting with many of the expenses you may experience while hospitalized due to a covered accident or illness. The plan is available in Canada only. The plan pays a daily indemnity benefit of $50 per unit for hospital confinement due to a covered accident or sickness up to a maximum of 365 days per confinement. The plan also pays a lump sum benefit of $250 per unit, payable only once per year, the first time you are confined to a hospital as an inpatient. Up to four units may be purchased. All benefits are paid to the insured. Intensive care coverage When you are in intensive care in the hospital, the plan pays a daily indemnity of $100 per unit for confinement in a hospital intensive care unit or coronary care unit due to a covered accident or illness up to a maximum of 30 days per confinement. Wellness and Diagnostic Benefit While covered hospital costs are a great plus, avoiding hospitalization is everyone’s primary goal. That’s why the Hospital Indemnity Plan also provides a Wellness and Diagnostic Benefit. This benefit pays $75 for routine examinations or other preventative testing and is payable once per person per calendar year and two times per family per calendar year. The benefit covers the following examinations and tests:
