Aid to People with Intellectual Disabilities
This is UCT’s top civic project. For 50 years we have been committed to assisting people with intellectual disabilities. UCT has been a proud sponsor of Special Olympics, with total donations amounting to more than half-a-million dollars. Local councils continue to raise funds and volunteer hundreds of hours to support Special Olympics as well as schools and workshops for people with intellectual disabilities in their areas. Many local councils also conduct Seeds of Hope campaigns in their local communities each year to raise funds for programs for people with intellectual disabilities. In addition, UCT holds an annual international safety poster contest for people with intellectual disabilities. The UCT Charities Trust Fund Inc. was founded in 1997 as a way to help provide scholarships for students and teachers seeking degrees or certification to teach people with intellectual disabilities. In 2008, 1,966 UCT members volunteered 15,917 hours to programs for people with intellectual disabilities and spent $178,617 supporting these programs. Contact the Fraternal Department at amarshall@uct.org or at (800) 848-0123, ext. 126, for more information about these programs. | ||||
