UCT's Supreme Officers and Board of Governors UCT's top leadership is elected by delegates from the organization's Grand councils each year at the organization's annual convention. These officers represent a diverse cross section of skills and experience from throughout the United States and Canada. The officers meet periodically at the Home Office in Columbus, Ohio, to work with the organization's Senior Management Team to establish the organization's policies and direction. UCT's Supreme Counselor (international president) for 2009-2010 is James V. Walsh of Hookset, N.H.
Jim joined UCT in 1979 as a member of Manchester, N.H. Council 195. He served through the line of local offices and received his Past Counselor (past local president) honors in 1985. He served on the council’s executive committee for six years and has served as secretary-treasurer for the past eight years. Jim has served extensively at the Grand (regional) level, serving as Grand Chaplain during 1986 and as Grand Membership Director for seven years. He received his Past Grand Counselor honors in 1993. On the Supreme level, Jim is a Past Supreme Chaplain of UCT, having served as the Order’s Chaplain during 2000-2001. He is also a past president of the International Secretary-Treasurers’ Association and is a member of the Grand Counselors’ Association. He has served as representative to the National Fraternal Congress and participated in the Supreme Necrology Service. Born in 1956, Jim attended New Hampshire area schools and began his professional life as an apprentice in his father’s sign shop, Frank’s Signs, Inc. in 1975. In 1986, he purchased the sign shop and immediately doubled the size of the business while maintaining the family-style approach to customer service that he learned from his father. He continues to run the business while training his own son, Kevin, to someday assume the responsibilities of managing the shop. Jim and his wife Yolande have two sons, a daughter, a grandson, and a granddaughter. ![]() |
