Amazing things happen when caring people work together to make a difference in their communities! UCT’s home office employees – who are also UCT members – are perfect proof of this. We don’t just talk the talk when it comes to supporting community causes and charities – we walk the walk! We’re busy year-round volunteering for community causes and raising funds for charities, and autumn is one of our busiest seasons!
UCT just wrapped up our annual campaign for United Way of Central Ohio. Together, employees raised over $10,000 through pledges, donations and fundraising events like football toss, Bingo, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and a chia pet contest. We had great fun – and gained the good feeling of being part of United Way’s efforts to make our community a stronger, healthier, safer place to live, work and raise our families.
Twenty-two employees kicked off the campaign by volunteering to make a difference in our community through United Way’s Community Care Day, an annual day of service representing the largest volunteer effort in Central Ohio. Employees spent a day sprucing up Columbus Collegiate Academy by weeding the grounds, collecting litter and cleaning up the school playground.
Next up 27 UCT employees will lace up our walking shoes and take steps to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk. We’ve raised nearly $18,000 over the past nine years by participating in the walk. This year we plan to raise at least another $2,000 to help the Society’s efforts to fund lifesaving research and support for people battling cancer.
With the holiday season almost upon us, UCT employees will raise funds for and donate toys to Toys for Tots. We’ll kick off this annual drive by getting creative and dressing up for Halloween. Employees will vote with spare change for their favorite costumes, and the proceeds will help make Christmas more joyous for kids in our community!
We’re proud of our efforts to help make our community better and brighter! Keep in touch with our activities by liking and regularly visiting our UCT Facebook page at http://www.Facebook.com/UCTinAction.
