UCT Board approves partnership with ASHA

UCT’s Board of Governors and UCT Charities have approved a three year plan to partner with the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA). ASHA is a national hockey association created especially for players with intellectual disabilities. Currently ASHA supports over 80 special hockey teams throughout the United States. Options for developing a similar program in Canada are being explored. To officially launch the partnership, CEO Joe Hoffman will present a $15,000 check to ASHA and drop the ceremonial first puck at the ASHA game in Pittsburgh on Dec. 31. The ASHA game is part of the festivities leading up to the NHL’s Winter Classic.

Going forward UCT will provide support to ASHA at local, national and international levels. Local councils will be encouraged to help this partnership through fundraising and volunteer efforts.
