Hungry Ohioans benefit from the efforts of UCT employees

COLUMBUS, Ohio, August 2017 – UCT employees have been collecting food and raising funds for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s Operation Feed campaign for almost 20 years. This year was no exception – and it turned out to be a great success with 25,634 meals and $6,331 raised for hungry Central Ohioans.

Employees always have a lot of fun raising money for the campaign. This year, for two months, UCT employees participated in a number of fundraising events for the campaign, including lunches, pie sales, Donut Day, raffles, auctions, and our annual food truck rally – and the children and grandchildren of employees spent a day assembling food for families in need. All this while donating needed food items for the food bank.

One in six Ohioans is food insecure and don’t know where a next meal is coming from. Many families have to choose between paying for housing, utilities or medical expenses and putting food on the table. Operation Feed provides fresh, healthy food for local families struggling with hunger. Each year the campaign joins forces with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to raise critically needed resources through a community-wide drive for families in Central Ohio. The program begins in March and runs through June.

Operation Feed helps the Mid-Ohio Foodbank serve over 525,000 children, adults and seniors through more than 650 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites. The foodbank’s mission is to end hunger one meal at a time and co-create a community where everyone thrives. UCT is proud to be a continuing part of that.
