COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 2019 – UCT employees have been collecting food and raising funds for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s Operation Feed campaign for decades. This year was our best year yet for the campaign with $6,393 raised – equaling 25,640 meals for hungry Central Ohioans, a nearly 3,000 meal increase over last year.

Employees had a great time participating in a number of fundraising events for the campaign, including lunches, raffles and our annual food truck rally.

Food insecurity is growing in Ohio where at least one in six individuals doesn’t know where a next meal is coming from. Many families have to choose between paying for housing, utilities or medical expenses and putting food on the table. Operation Feed provides fresh, healthy food for local families struggling with hunger. Each year the campaign joins forces with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to raise critically needed resources through a community-wide drive for families in Central Ohio. The program begins in March and runs through June.

Over 500,000 adults and seniors are served by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank through more than 650 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites. The foodbank’s mission is to end hunger one meal at a time and co-create a community where everyone thrives.
