UCT employees raise 23,000 meals for Operation Feed

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 2018 – For nearly 20 years UCT employees have been collecting food and raising funds for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s Operation Feed campaign. This year was another great success for the campaign with $5,730 raised – equaling nearly 23,000 meals for hungry Central Ohioans.

As always, UCT employees had fun raising money for the campaign. Employees participated in a number of fundraising events for the campaign, including lunches, pie sales, Donut Day, raffles, auctions, and our annual food truck rally – and the children and grandchildren of employees spent a day assembling food and tending gardens at the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

One in six Ohioans is food insecure and don’t know where a next meal is coming from. Many families have to choose between paying for housing, utilities or medical expenses and putting food on the table. Operation Feed provides fresh, healthy food for local families struggling with hunger. Each year the campaign joins forces with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to raise critically needed resources through a community-wide drive for families in Central Ohio. The program begins in March and runs through June.

Operation Feed helps the Mid-Ohio Foodbank serve over 525,300 children, adults and seniors through more than 650 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites. The foodbank’s mission is to end hunger one meal at a time and co-create a community where everyone thrives.
