All About Blogs

We love that you enjoy reading the UCT Blog…but have you read these other great blogs? Check out a few of our favorites:

American Cancer Society   Together with our millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society (ACS) saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

UCT is a long-time supporter of the American Cancer Society.  Their blog covers a range of topics relating to cancer including treatment, questions, survivors, statistics, and more.  Share this resource with someone you love and make a difference!

American Fraternal Alliance   The American Fraternal Alliance unites the not-for-profit fraternal benefit societies operating in 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.  Alliance member societies represent nearly 10.5 million individuals, making it one of America’s largest member-volunteer networks. Each year members of fraternal benefit societies invest more than 92.5 million hours in community works and contribute more than $414 million to charitable programs supporting community service projects.

As a member of the American Fraternal Alliance, UCT works with other fraternal organizations to increase awareness of our socially-conscious business model and bring a new generation of individuals into membership.  The American Fraternal Alliance President’s Blog is maintained by Joe Annotti and we enjoy reading his quips and insights on community service and fraternal issues.

Special Olympics   Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

UCT supports individuals with intellectual disabilities in a number of ways, including the Special Olympics.  Get inspired by reading their blog and hearing touching stories of individuals overcoming obstacles to reach their goals.

This isn’t a blog, but ASHA deserves special mention:

American Special Hockey League   The American Special Hockey Association oversees programs across the country that give people with physical and developmental disabilities the chance to play ice hockey in an environment adapted to their level of ability.  In addition to physical hockey skills, the program helps develop characteristics like dependability, self-reliance, concentration, teamwork, and other life skills.  The program uses the sport to help the players be more successful on and off the ice. Like them on Facebook!

UCT Supports ASHA and is hard at work preparing for the second annual Winter Hockey Festival -coming in 2013.  If you want to get involved with ASHA, enter an ASHA team in the Winter Hockey Festival, or volunteer at the event, contact fraternal@uct.org

OK, we’ve shared our favorites – now share some of yours! Let us know which blogs you follow and be sure to subscribe to the UCT Blog to keep up-to-date on all the latest news!
