Thanksgiving week is officially here! Bring on the turkey, football, family and of course the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade – a must-watch in my house.
Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been explaining Thanksgiving to my three-year-old son. Things like how it started, what we do, how to celebrate, what we eat…and then I finally asked him what he thought Thanksgiving meant. He set his crayons down, looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said, “It is the day we say thank you.”
Simple as that.
I looked right back at him and said “You’re absolutely right.”
I knew I had to share his sweet answer with all of you, because we all need to hear those two little words and we all need to say them. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us, why they’re important and just how much we appreciate having them in our life.

So this week when you’re surrounded by family and friends, please share a thank you with one of them or pick up the phone and make that call you’ve been putting off. If the past couple of months have taught us anything, it is that tomorrow is not guaranteed. Don’t wait to say thank you or I love you – say it right now.
And with that I want to thank all of you for making my (almost) first year at UCT so wonderful. Your strength, compassion and dedication give me inspiration every single day. I hope all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving….and THANK YOU!
