New Scholarship Program

Posted on Oct 31, 2013 by: UCT

UCT members have a long history of working to improve their local communities.  Over the past 125 years, our members have volunteered to support a wide variety of charitable causes.  One long term effort of the organization has been to help young people pursue higher education.

UCT has been awarding scholarships to deserving students for over 50 years.  Over that time, the UCT scholarship program and the May E. Tisdale scholarship program have helped many students achieve their goal of a college education.

This year, in addition to these programs, we have a new scholarship fund.

The Heaston Scholarship program will award scholarships to three students.  One of the scholarships will be for $6,000 per year for four years, and the other two will provide $3,000 per year for four years.  The deadline for applying is February 1, and the scholarship recipients will be announced on March 31.  Students planning on beginning college in the Fall of 2014 should apply now.

The scholarship has been funded by a generous donation by UCT members Jack and Betty Heaston.  Their desire was to reward students who have worked hard and persevered in the face of adversity to achieve success in school.  The committee is also interested in extracurricular activities and community service.

If you are a senior in high school planning on attending college beginning in the fall of 2014, take a look at this program.
