UCT members are volunteers across the U.S. and Canada giving back locally every day through community service. Our members produce amazing results. Over the past three years UCT’s numbers included more than $3 million donated to causes and charities, more than $300,000 awarded in scholarships, and more than 370,000 collective hours of volunteer service given to communities and causes. That’s strength in numbers!
Members decide on a local basis which causes and charities to support and how to best meet the needs of their communities. While volunteer efforts vary from community to community, many members and councils focus
on key UCT community service areas. Here are just a few:
Helping people with intellectual disabilities
This has been UCT’s top community service cause for over 50 years. Members volunteer and raise money for many worthwhile charities including Special Olympics, the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA) and The ARC as well as local schools, workshops and camps for individuals with intellectual disabilities. And UCT grants scholarships to students majoring in special education.
Cancer charities and causes
Members turn out locally to support a number of charities and causes devoted to fighting back against cancer. The American and Canadian Cancer Societies, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, Light the Night, Pelotonia, and the Terry Fox Run are just a few.
Helping to build better futures for young people is another key focus for many UCT members who find time to sponsor and support local youth sports teams, scout troops, summer camps for kids, student scholarships, and organizations and projects like Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Operation Purple, D.A.R.E., and JOIN HANDS DAY.
Community safety and support
Members work with local schools to sponsor safety poster contests and provide community safety programs for students. And they contribute time and money to community projects and organizations for seniors, veterans, the homeless, the hungry, and those working to better the environment.
As a UCT member you too can support these worthwhile causes – or focus on causes that matter most to you and your community. It’s up to you! Find out more about how you can make a difference today!
