Making a Difference Together

UCT members make an impact through community service!

Every day, across the U.S. and Canada, UCT members make a difference in their communities and have a positive impact on those who live there through their volunteer community service efforts. Our members are special people, and they’re humble people too. Their dedication to putting into action UCT’s commitment to being the place where community and compassion unite is commonplace to them. It’s simply what they do. They’re not much for tooting their own horns – that’s why I’m here.

Every year at this time we compile our volunteer and fundraising stats, and here is some of what we found for 2018: Our members spent more than 57,000 hours supporting causes and charities that best meet the needs of their communities. They held around 800 special events and donated more than $1.1 million to these causes and charities. UCT members decide on a local basis who and what to support and some of their favorite programs include those for veterans, seniors, the homeless and hungry, and those working to help the environment. You rock, UCT members. Thank you!

Helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities has been UCT’s top project for 60 years. Through their support of programs like Special Olympics and The ARC, as well as schools, workshops and camps, our members showed their dedication to it. Helping younger generations is another key focus for UCT members, and they proved it by sponsoring and supporting local youth sports teams, scout troops, summer camps, student scholarships, Toys for Tots, and organizations like Big Brothers-Big Sisters and the Boys and Girls Club.

Other causes and charities UCT members helped out this year included the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American and Canadian Cancer Societies, Relay for Life, the Terry Fox Run, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Red Cross, the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI), The Salvation Army, and Ronald McDonald House.

We’re proud of the many ways that UCT members make their communities better places to live, and we’re grateful to them supporting charities that help so many individuals in need. There’s no doubt they’ll give back even more next year. You can count on it!
