Making a Difference Together

Let us help you get attention in your community!

UCT’s 130th anniversary is coming up on Jan. 8, 2018 – and we intend to celebrate it! As a lead up to our anniversary festivities, UCT’s home office will be distributing press releases to media outlets where there are active UCT local councils, specifically those councils participating in the UCT 130 Challenge.

Press releases will include information about UCT’s anniversary and history, our mission, specific local council projects and activities (emphasis on local causes and charities supported), and who to contact locally for more details. This distribution of information will be ongoing after Jan. 8 for councils that are active and involved in the 130 Challenge. What’s the catch? Just one – local councils need to express an interest in working with the home office to get the word out in their communities.

As I’ve emphasized in previous blog posts, using traditional media like newspapers, radio and TV to share the news about your local councils and what you do to help your communities is a way to generate interest in your council – and might even help jumpstart membership. People still trust the things they read in the paper or see/hear on TV and radio – and this is especially true in smaller communities. If your council is relatively active in your community and/or you’re participating in the UCT 130 Challenge, it just makes sense to let others in your area know about what you’re doing.

A little local attention can go a long way toward helping your council to grow. What do you think? Can you use some help in promoting your council’s projects and activities? Would you like the home office’s help in doing the necessary legwork? If this sounds good, contact me at lfisher@uct.org or at 800.848.0123 x1130 before Nov. 1, 2017, to find out more and we can get started working on gaining recognition for your local council today!
