Making a Difference Together

Looking forward to 2014

With only a few days left before the New Year, I’ve been thinking about some of the great things in store in 2014.  We have several new initiatives planned for the coming year, and I’m excited to see how everything plays out.

While we have great things planned throughout the year, we have a couple of major events coming up early in 2014.

For the past two years we have hosted a winter hockey festival for special hockey teams as part of our partnership with the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA).  The past two tournaments were held in Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio on their outdoor rink.  The players really enjoyed both events, and they seemed to really like playing outdoors.

In the next two months, UCT is participating in two hockey festivals.

The weekend of January 17-19, we are hosting our 3rd winter hockey festival, this time at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel Maryland.  We expect over 20 teams to participate, and it should be an exciting event.  There is even a brand new outdoor rink that will be available for some of the games.

On February 15, we will return to Toledo, and two of our newest councils are hosting a tournament.  Open Arms Council 2010 from Bowling Green, OH will be working with Pittsburgh Special Hockey Council 2006 to host a one day special hockey tournament.  The venue in Ottawa Park is a great place to play and to watch hockey, and it should be a fun day.

We are pleased to be able to work with ASHA and their member teams to sponsor these tournaments.
