Making a Difference Together

Race to 100

As a fraternal, UCT is both a membership organization and a non-profit insurance carrier. Our members volunteer to improve their local communities, and we provide them with financial security through a variety of financial services products. The income from those products helps to fund their community service work. It is a business model that benefits both members and the communities in which they live. UCT members have contributed millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours over the years. A study from the University of Maryland a few years ago quantified the economic benefit that fraternals provide in the US at over $3 billion per year.

Many members of Congress recognize the good work done by fraternals, and one indication of that is House Resolution 19. It is a resolution that reaffirms the value and validity of the fraternal business model. In this time of partisanship in much of what the government does, this resolution has broad bipartisan support. That can be seen by looking at the list of sponsors from both parties.

We are hoping to get 100 sponsors for this resolution, and we hope you will help us achieve that. You can go here to take action, or here to learn more. It takes just minutes, and you can quickly either thank your representative for being a sponsor if he or she already is one, or you can request that your representative become a sponsor. It is easy to do, and it will help recognize and encourage the continued good work of fraternals.
