The UCT Scholarship Program – changing lives & building futures

Posted on Sep 27, 2012 by: David Knapp

For more than 50 years UCT has made helping people with intellectual disabilities our top service project. In 1997 our UCT Charities fund was established as a way to support this priority, primarily by providing scholarships to students and teachers seeking degrees or certification to teach people with intellectual disabilities through the UCT Scholarship Program.

Each year the UCT Scholarship Program makes a significant difference by awarding scholarships to help students in the U.S. and Canada cover registration fees, tuition and text books. Applicants may receive up to $2,500 in scholarship assistance each year. Applications are reviewed monthly and assistance is generally distributed within two months.

The UCT Scholarship Program helped Jacqueline Cahill achieve her goal of attaining a Ph.D. in education from Northcentral University in Arizona – and she couldn’t be more grateful.

“I can’t tell you how much I appreciate UCT’s financial support. I found my 11-year career teaching students with intellectual disabilities challenging, yet extremely rewarding. I now enjoy developing curriculum and instructing adults who want to teach students with intellectual disabilities. I also look forward to publishing the curriculum that I created and utilized throughout my years of teaching. I’m very grateful.”

If you – or someone you know – could use scholarship assistance to help you reach your goals, check out our scholarship guidelines to see if you’re eligible and send us an application today. It might make all the difference. And keep checking our website and blog for information about “UCT Gives Back” – just one more way we’re helping people with intellectual disabilities!
