In case you didn’t hear – UCT Gives Back…Again is UCT’s second video contest for schools with programs for people with intellectual disabilities or universities with programs to train special education teachers. The contest is in full swing and today is day 4 of the voting. For our ten finalists, this can be more than just a school event, this can be a community event.
Last year’s winning school had students, teachers and parents click in votes daily and share status updates across social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
- They distributed information cards encouraging community members to vote for the school at area restaurants.
- Local media outlets covered the program’s progress in the contest, alerting the community on how to vote. Who knows what other good will come from your efforts. One local man was so moved by TV coverage of the program that he donated $600 to the local school!
Ask everyone to vote each day. Post it on the school website if you are allowed. Contact your local media, newspaper, television station and radio station and provide them with the contest information. Get the word out. Also, don’t forget to “like” UCT.
