Making a Difference Together

Winter Hockey Festivals

Posted on Jan 23, 2014 by: UCT

I spent last weekend at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel Maryland attending the UCT Winter Hockey Festival. It was a great event and the players seemed to really enjoy every bit of it.

We had 20 teams participate, and they had the opportunity to play on one of 3 indoor rinks and also an outdoor rink that was completed just a few months ago. The venue was great, and special thanks to the owners of the Gardens Ice House, Tom Hendrix and Clai Carr for all their work in helping to make the event such a success.

You can see photos from the event on our Facebook page and on ASHA’s Facebook page

Our relationship with ASHA is now four years old, and it has been a great partnership. UCT has a long tradition of supporting programs for those with developmental disabilities, and our involvement with ASHA is a continuation of that work. We are pleased to be able to help them accomplish all the good work that they do.

This was our third UCT Winter Hockey Festival for special hockey teams, but the first at this facility. The festival has gown each year, and we hope it will be even bigger and better next year.

In case you missed this event, there will be another opportunity to see a special hockey festival in a few weeks. Two of our local councils are sponsoring a day-long tournament at Ottawa Park in Toledo on February 15. If you are in the area, make a point of stopping by to watch. The festival will run all day.
